Win11 with Installed Apps Dev Channel

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a confirmation, whether my installed applications on win10 right now will have to be reinstalled after win11 update from Insider Program. To inform, my pc is fully compatible with the win11 requirements. If I have to reinstall everything once again, I guess I may not upgrade right now due to workload. Thanks in advance!!!

Will be waiting for your suggestions... Kindly reply soon.

  • Hi there,

I am currently running Windows 11 on my workstation, and everything just works. You won't need to reinstall any of your applications, although, if you have any specialized applications, I would recommend that you check for any updates for that application after you upgrade to Win 11.

Usually, whenever I install an update, the first thing I do it to check for any updates in the Microsoft Store and Windows Update. Once this is done, I would check for any application updates.

Do remember to back everything up before updating in case you need to go back due to some application incompatibility.

    Cheers!

    Regards
    Ayush Gupta

Thanks Ayush, I just wanted to be sure because softwares I'm running takes a long time to get installed and I don't want to waste my time in it, at the same time I'm eager for win11.

I understand how frustrating it would be to install all over again. But from what I have heard from many people and all the reviews and impressions from many reputable sources, you shouldn't face any issues during and after the upgrade.

A proper backup is essential and can save a lot of your time in case something goes bad. Since you have mission critical applications, I would suggest you create a full back up on as separate hard drive if you have any.

Do try and upgrade to Win11 (you are gonna like it 😉)

You can always file a feedback and file a new ticket in the Windows Community Hub if you face any issues.
