Autofit not working on powerpoint (mac)

Hello,

I have text in a placeholder or text box and the words are just going outside of the line of the box instead of giving me the little AutoFit icon.

I have tried changing all the AutoFit check boxes, and searched forums and everybody seems to have this little grey icon pop up for AutoFit, this isn't popping up for me at all.

I need the text to overflow to the next slide, I have spent so much time setting this document up (weeks) to then find I can't overflow text and its all gone to waste if it doesn't work.

Is it a problem with mac?

Please help!
