Microsoft Bookings - creating new sessions when at capacity

Question

I have a Microsoft bookings event which is set at maximum 20 people capacity. When it reaches capacity, instead of closing bookings it creates a new event (a duplicate). Does anyone know how to stop this?

hi @charlotefl just a query/theory we are testing at the moment - do you have more than 1 staff member assigned to the booking? I'm wondering if it's working on a maximum number per staff member rather than event?

we have 3-4 staff assigned to the booking

OK, our testing discovered that if 1 staff member is assigned to the booking, if you make any amends e.g. title, time, duration etc. then the booking behaves as it should. If more than 1 staff member is assigned if you make any amends then the booking seems to overbook and assign 1 of of the staff members to the duplicate booking. Our work around is to assign 1 staff member and then send the joining link to the others or to ask the staff members to book on the event as an attendee (to ensure they receive the links etc)- ensuing your max numbers reflect this. Hope that makes sense?
