error occurred with Powerpoint recording
Hello Community,
I have been trying to record a PPT presentation and the moment I stop the recording, this message pops up - "An error occurred with recording. Please try again."
I have tried couple of basic troubleshooting, but this won't change.
Can anyone please suggest what must be the reason for this error.
Thanks

It sounds like you're experiencing difficulties with recording a PowerPoint presentation, and despite trying some basic troubleshooting steps, you're still encountering the same error message.
Here are a few potential reasons for the error and some suggestions to address them:
Insufficient Disk Space: Check if your computer has enough free disk space to save the recorded presentation. If the disk space is low, it may prevent the recording from being saved properly. Try freeing up some space on your hard drive and attempt the recording again.
Permissions Issue: Ensure that you have the necessary permissions to save files to the location where you're attempting to save the recorded presentation. If you're trying to save it to a network drive or a restricted folder, you may encounter errors. Try saving the presentation to a different location with appropriate permissions.
Corrupted Installation: Sometimes, a corrupted installation of PowerPoint or related software can cause recording errors. Try repairing or reinstalling Microsoft Office to see if that resolves the issue.
Conflicting Software: Other software running on your computer, such as antivirus programs or screen recording software, could potentially conflict with PowerPoint's recording feature. Try disabling or temporarily uninstalling any such software and then attempt the recording again.
Outdated Software: Ensure that your PowerPoint software is up-to-date with the latest updates and patches. Sometimes, bugs and issues are resolved in newer versions of the software.
Hardware Issues: If you're using external recording devices or peripherals, ensure that they are properly connected and configured. Faulty hardware can sometimes cause recording errors.
Temporary Glitch: Sometimes, software issues can occur due to temporary glitches or conflicts. Try restarting your computer and then attempting the recording again to see if the issue persists.
If none of these suggestions resolve the problem, you may need to provide more specific details about your system configuration and the steps you've already taken to troubleshoot the issue. This additional information can help in diagnosing the problem more accurately and providing further assistance.
I hope one of these suggestions helps resolve the recording error you're encountering. If you continue to experience issues, don't hesitate to reach out for further assistance. - ccneuCopper ContributorI'm having the exact same problem. Is there any resolution?
Is there any error message popup and logs, try take a look at Audio Device Drivers and Add-ins
- ccneuCopper ContributorYes, the error message from PowerPoint is "An error occurred with recording. Please try again.". There are no problems with my audio drivers or my webcam drivers, all audio and video functions work fine with all other applications, including Microsoft Teams. It is just PowerPoint that has this incredibly stupid unreliability when it comes to inserting "Cameo" objects and using them to record your narration and webcam.
I'm using the latest version of PowerPoint (desktop) on the latest version of Windows 11. It took me hours and hours to trudge through recording my narration, one slide at a time, backing up when it failed, undoing and re-placing cameos, saving previous versions of the document manaully to go back to when it the error wouldn't stop, and eventually I got through it. I don't know how Microsoft lives with the amount of lost productivity they are responsible for.

zsunay I'm having the same problem. Only, it actually does still record with no real issues. I'm not sure why I'm seeing the error, but since I have the recording anyway, I figure it's a glitch in the matrix.
Try selecting the "record" option again. If it saved the recording, you won't be able to record again unless you clear the last recording. You will, however, be able to Export to your chose folder. I hope it helps.
Still, if anyone finds a solution to this little hiccup, I'd be happy to know. Maybe we need to update our Office products? I'll try that and see.
