Outlook groups - how to send emails from Groups

Hi,

Is there a way to send emails from Microsoft 365 groups similar to distribution groups/security groups?

I need to use a specific group to send emails rather than individual email addresses

I have added the email address to my "From" section but it says I do not have permissions to send from the specific group. I own the group and can't see any option in the group to add permissions so looking for advice on what to do next?

Thanks,

รine

In order to add the ability to send from the group mailbox, this must be done in the Exchange Admin Center. You add delegates to the mailbox, just like with a Shared Mailbox. Unfortunately, that is not dynamic, and you cannot set the membership group as a delegate so that as members are added, they are automatically granted the ability 'send as' the mailbox.

Your welcome. This is basically because of Security postures and also base on how every organization configure there environment.

    Happy New Year ainekavanagh66,

Base on your issue, check the permissions of the MS Group as follows:

    Using Microsoft 365 Admin Center:

    • If you have access, go to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
    • Navigate to GroupsActive groups.
    • Select the group and click on Settings.
    • Look for the permissions section

    Hope this helps ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thanks so much for this - unfortunately I'm not an admin so won't work for me - I'm surprised you would need to be an admin to alter your own Microsoft365 group
