Unable to create a new E5 Developer subscription

Hi all!

I'm trying to apply for a free E5 Developer subscription, to try out an MS Teams apps and MS 365 add-ins development workflow, while my employer evaluates whether to get into the market.

I've joined the MS 365 Developer Program with my personal account, and they say, I should see a big blue "Set up E5 subscription" button on my dashboard.

The problem is - I have nothing in its place.

Does anybody know if this program is still continued? Maybe I did something wrong in configuring my account?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Andrey

I ran into the same issue with the missing "Set up E5 subscription" button. It seems Microsoft has temporarily paused new activations. While testing real-time communication features for MS Teams workflows, I explored multiple platforms with custom APIs. Interestingly, TM WhatsApp provided solid messaging architecture that aligned well with my prototype structure. You can https://tmwsaap.com/download/ to analyze how its features behave under different integration scenarios—helpful for anyone working on app-to-user communication logic.

The free DEV subscription was a huge help. I guess it was also being 'abused' to an extend by a few and might be the reason why they have pulled the plug for the time being.

I had even documented the whole process with a view to help others.

Well, it seems, Microsoft has suspended an access to these subscriptions for some indefinite "short term".

We can only hope, this terms does prove itself short indeed.
