Help Desk Sent Me Here...Help!

I'm getting the msg in a ribbon at the top of my excel files as follows: COULDN'T VERIFY SUBSCRIPTION Excel couldn't verify your Microsoft 365 subscription. Please make sure that you're connected to the Internet. ( I am ). we've rebooted several times, uninstalled, reinstalled etc. I can open all my excel files, but can't edit or save them. All dropdowns are "grayed" out. Microsoft Help Desk sent me here.

  • Excel opens files in reduced-functionality mode because it cannot verify the Microsoft 365 license, although internet access and reinstalling were tested. This is an activation problem, not a workbook permission problem, so stop reinstalling Office. In Excel, open File > Account and confirm the signed-in address owns the subscription. Check that the subscription is active and, for a work account, ask the administrator to confirm a Microsoft 365 Apps license is assigned. Correct Windows date, time, and time zone, close every Office app, sign out, restart Windows, and sign back in. Remove any unused second Office installation shown in Programs and Features. Next, run the Microsoft 365 activation troubleshooter from Get Help on this PC. If it still fails, note the exact error under File > Account and have the administrator check whether proxy or firewall rules block Microsoft's licensing service before opening Microsoft 365 support.

  • I would ask the exact same question on chat gpt. There you'll receive a very detailed answer.
