Azure Marketplace - Could not Create marketplace item
I am trying to create a marketplace offering on Azure.
After successfully going through the publishing process, when I click on my offering I just see this:
The "Preview" works fine though. I uploaded an app icon which shows in the preview, so not really sure what Gallery item it's asking for.
Hi gazm2k5 -
Even though you've uploaded an app icon and completed the publishing flow, the "Gallery item" refers to a specific metadata component that Azure Marketplace uses to render the public-facing listing. This includes:
- Marketing collateral (like screenshots, videos, and descriptions)
- Technical configuration (like plans, SKUs, and deployment templates)
- Gallery metadata (which is different from just the app icon)
If this metadata is incomplete or not properly linked during publishing, the offering may fail to render publicly—even if the preview works fine.
Suggested Fixes:
- Double-check the Gallery tab in the Partner Center:
- Ensure all required fields are filled out.
- Make sure you’ve uploaded at least one screenshot and not just the app icon.
- Confirm that the SKU and Plan are properly associated with the listing.
- Re-publish the offer after verifying the gallery metadata.
- Check for validation errors in the publishing summary or email notifications from Microsoft.
- If everything looks correct and it still doesn’t work, you may need to open a support ticket.
Can you please try these steps and let me know if you are able to resolve?

Hi justinroyal
Thanks for your reply.
I was missing a screenshot. It does not specify that this is a required element and since my offering is backend services only, I don't have anything too relevant to provide as a screenshot - however I have now uploaded a screenshot and republished but it is still displaying the same error.
I have not provided a video as I do not have one, and presumably this is not required.
I'm not sure what you mean by associating the SKU and plan with the listing, but I have gone through the entire offering again including the Plan overview page and I cannot see anything obvious that I've missed.
I would expect it to prevent me from being able to hit publish if I hadn't filled out all the required fields, so I feel like I've entered everything.
The publishing overview page has green ticks across the process and doesn't indicate anything went wrong - is this the publishing summary you're referring to?
