Paste TO visible cells only in a filtered cells only
Hello NSK-Mar
- copy the formula or value to the clipboard
- select the filtered column
- hit F5 or Ctrl+G to open the Go To dialog
- Click Special
- click "Visible cells only" and OK
- hit Ctrl+V to paste.

I am not sure that works if you dont want to paste an ENTIRE column. There may be different content above or below which you dont want to overwrite, so your second bullet point "select the filtered column" does not work in that instance. Selecting just a cell results in "this action won't work on multiple selections".
Any other idea?

IngeborgHawighorst Its not working
I am still unable to put data in visible cells only'
- Blue_Sky_HighJan 19, 2024Copper ContributorThis is the answer. Thank you! Added it to my Quick Access Toolbar for future reference.
- OLR_Sales_TaxAug 18, 2022Copper ContributorI do not see the "Visible cells only" under the old "original" paste special dialog box. So frustrating. Excel is pretty smart, seems like it could just paste what I'm seeing. It's intuitive on other things.

I'm working on a time-sensitive deliverable for work and am running into the following and could really use your help asap - thanks!!!
Hi, I think I did instructions as explained but I get the message:
"The Action won't work on multiple selections."
Where I did it wrong?
I have an active filter
I copied the column I want to replicate "as is" into another column
I selected the "another column"
I did F5-Special-Multiple Only - OK
I pasted from where I am (the "another column")
but I get this error message.
Thanks. - DarkStar69Sep 07, 2021Copper Contributor

DarkStar69 Hey - Were you ever able to find a solution to this? I'm running into the exact same problem for a time-sensitive project I'm working on right now. Any input would be most appreciated, SERIOUSLY!
Thanks!

Thanks that's very helpful. May I add that you need to copy (Ctrl + C) your selection after you select 'visible cells only'?

is it possible to add icon for it in the toolbar?
- Blue_Sky_HighJan 19, 2024Copper ContributorIt's already on the toolbar, under Home > Editing. You can also add the icon to your Quick Access Toolbar.
- Muhammad_AsimJun 12, 2020Copper ContributorIt is not working. Can you send me a video of it.

Muhammad_Asim I experience similar problem also when pasting into filtered cells. This seems like it should be pretty simple, but it doesn't work. See attached video evidence.
What is Microsoft's moderator response to this?

Hi Russell. I'm facing the same issue. It copies over the hidden rows, but gives the same error when I try to paste it
