Windows 10 ESU not activated

Windows 10 support is ending after next year October. However, while I should be eligible for the ESU program it did not kick in on my PC. This despite having KB5063709 installed.

Note: I have two computers with my account, one being on Windows 11 and the other being on Windows 10. The older system does not support Windows 11 due to the CPU restrictions. I would like to extent the support period but I`m out of solution space to get it working. Please advice.

  • hi FritsBlits  Ensure the Windows 10 machine is version 22H2, latest updates installed.

Sign in using a Microsoft account (MSA) or sync your PC settings if you aren’t.

Check Settings → Windows Update for a link or tile labeled “Enroll in Extended Security Updates (ESU)”.

If you don’t see it yet: wait a few weeks (rollout may still be happening) or consider enrolment via the paid path if you must.

If the device is domain-joined / enterprise-managed, you may need to follow the commercial ESU path (MAK key installation) instead.

Watch for any registry or subscription checks: some sources report the need for the SoftwareProtectionPlatform\ESU key.
