Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management Premium Announcement

Summary

On April 1, 2024, Microsoft announced the general availability of demand planning for Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management. The new demand planning capabilities will be licensed through Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management Premium, the new licensing SKU for Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management. In addition to the capabilities included in the base Supply Chain Management license, Supply Chain Management Premium offers customers the capabilities to enhance supply chain adaptability and performance with advanced planning, analytics, and insights. The new SKU is now live on price lists (as of April 1, 2024) and is required for customers who use the demand planning feature. These capabilities address a common historical gap in Microsoft’s Dynamics 365 ERP portfolio while also infusing new differentiated AI and Copilot features to support the ongoing work to make Dynamics 365 the best suite of solutions for customers.

Demand Planning

Microsoft introduced the Demand Planning capabilities in preview on October 31, 2023. Demand Planning in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management Premium is a comprehensive tool designed to optimize inventory levels and enhance customer satisfaction through improved business decision-making. It offers a suite of capabilities including interactive statistical forecasting, segmentation analysis, and collaborative planning tools, all aimed at addressing common forecasting challenges such as promotion and seasonality, complex product portfolios, and demand variability. Since the preview announcement, we have seen strong interest from existing customers, including two published customer stories from Domino’s UK and Ireland and Poloplast.

Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management placemat – NEW Premium license

Any user that needs to create or edit forecasts in Demand Planning will need to have a Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management Premium license ($300 per user per month).  Users that only need to read or create worksheets in Demand Planning can use a Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management license.

Ensure your customers can activate the new demand planning capabilities within Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management from the Power Platform Admin Center (PPAC) when they become generally available on April 1, 2024, by optimizing their SKU mix for supply chain management and demand planning users.
