Office phone and/or mobile phone no longer validated

Hello,

I have a question regarding the validation of the office and mobile phone numbers.

 

Until some time ago it was validated and it had to be in the correct format, e.g. +123456×789.

 

Now this seems no longer to be the case, since I can enter whatever I want. See also the screenshot attached. Is this changed? Is there a way to ensure that correct numbers are entered?

        I do actually, forgot to follow up here. So apparently the change is by design, some orgs were complaining that the validation used previously caused them troubles. So Microsoft sorted the issue Stalin's way 🙂
