Azure AD Application Proxy Connector for Apps hosted on Linux VM in Azure

Hello guys.
I have an application running on Linux VM in Azure and want to secure it with Application Proxy. How to setup my connector? Should I deploy Windows Server VM in the same resource group as Linux VM or there is smarter way (I hope) to accomplish this?
