Add Shortcut to Files fails
My wife and I have a family Office 365 subscription. I have shared a folder with her with permissions to edit. She gets the email confirming this and can open the link and see the files in the folder. When she clicks "Add shortcut to My files" she gets a message "1 shortcut wasn't added". This happens using Onedrive web (through Edge) and on the Onedrive app on her iPhone. On the iPhone she hit "Add Shortcut to Files" and it says "By addding "Folder Name" to your OneDrive, you can sync it on your computers with other OneDrive files". When she clicks OK it says "Adding" and then comes up with a message "Something went wrong". Any ideas?6Views0likes0CommentsRecover deleted file from OneDrive shared folder
Hi, I am trying to find a way to restore deleted file in OneDrive.... I had a user (userA) that had some folders/files on his OneDrive shared with some colleagues.... That user is not with company anymore... Now, one of the user (userB) that has an access to his shared folder, deleted some files by mistake that she now wants to restore. How can I restore it? As it is a shared folder from OneDrive, it looks that the deleted file is not stored in the userB recycle bin... when she goes OneDrive Online, go to the folder where she wants to recover the files (as it can be usually recovered when shared folder from SharePoint), there is no Recycle Bin visible at all when I - as an admin - create a OneDrive link for usarA onedrive and connect to it (in M365 admin->Active users->OneDrive), there is no Recycle Bin visible either what is the way to recover the file in this situation? Just can't figure it out.Solved2.7KViews0likes4CommentsHow to transfer all photos from OneDrive into a hard drive?
Need to transfer all photos from OneDrive into a hard drive. I'm almost running out of space on OneDrive, and I want to find a way to quickly download all of them somewhere, before deleting them from the cloud. Thing is, it seems like I have to scroll and drag click all of the photos; 3 years worth of them, which is really tedious to do. I was wondering if there was an easier way to just download all of them somewhere? Note that this isn't about the OneDrive files, it's the OneDrive photos section, which I don't think you could sync to your computer. I'm using a MacBook Air M1 2021, if it helps. Thanks!26KViews0likes4CommentsFiles are mysteriously appearing in the wrong OneDrive folders
For some reason, files in my some of my OneDrive folders are appearing in others. In most cases, they are not moving over from their original folders. They are still in the original folders but also popping up elsewhere. When I try to open them, most won't open. When you try to open photos that have duplicated in another folder, you're told "this file doesn't have a preview we can show you" and Word documents won't open with the message "sorry, this document can't be opened for editing". But I have come across one instance where a photo in a folder is copied in the same folder but with a completely different name of another t file from another folder. that did open. What is going on?59Views0likes3CommentsMoving Images between Albums and OneDrive ?

Hi, I am having an issue that I need help with. I have my One Drive account for several years. I have my main account signed in on my laptop. I have 4 other users sharing their folder with edit access to my main account. I add them as short cut to my main account. In the past, on my laptop, they function as folders. Meaning, I can move, delete, add files and they essentially function as a folder. Now, all my shared folder from my other users suddenly becomes short cut. When I open the folder, it brings me to the browser for me to sign in and view them. This never happened before and I am not sure what caused it. Please help. Edit Update: I am able to fix this by logging into One Drive with my other user account. Seems like not all accounts are affected only some. I know its not a fixed but at least a temporary solution. The problem seems to be on Microsoft side and I hope they fixed it soon or else I will be going to Google Drive. Update 2: This issue was ongoing since June 7, 2024. As of today, June 19, 2024 it still has not been fixed. Also, one of the Always on device folder on my laptop start deleting stuff on its own. I had to disble the always on device to get it to stop. Great job Microsoft, the most valueable company in the world. I think I will be moving to Google Drive.17KViews23likes56Commentsone drive doesn't appear to be syncing files to my new PC desktop

I use "Get Link" button and it gives me a link (like below) which will open the file online. How can I get a link for direct file download? Hi team, I've recently come across an issue with my one drive suddenly not syncing to my file explorer. I have lost access to viewing my shared documents in file explorer. I can only access my shared files via them default opening in a webpage and not the local file explorer like they used to. I do not have access to change the default program via the "open with" option as I have seen could work - the only option I have is "open" which then opens the webpage. Can anyone help advise how to work around this and regain access to my shared files in file explorer please? Thanks.741Views2likes11CommentsPeople menu not showing in OneDrive
I recently migrated my photos from Google Photos to OneDrive. One of the features I would like to use is face recognition, but this option doesn't appear for me. In fact, it seems that anything related to AI isn't working. Does anyone know why?42Views0likes1CommentOneDrive is soooooooooooooooooooooo slow!
Why is OneDrive for Business so unacceptably slow? I've had a case open with Microsoft Support since February and to date they have involved several different teams, run numerous diagnostics and tests remotely on my computer, but still haven't been able to improve let alone resolve the very poor download speeds we are getting across the company. They can see the issue with their own eyes, and the under-performing tests are appearing in their diagnostic logs, but for whatever reason they cannot fix their own systems! We have a fibre-optic leased line, 100Mbit over a 1Gbit bearer. Running a speed test, I am getting the full 100Mbit up and down, and yet when I am downloading a file (whether it's a few MB or a few hundred MB) from OneDrive, the download rate hovers between 500Kb/s and 800Kb/s. Uploading the OneDrive for Business is fine - the upload rate is between 7Mb/s and 9Mb/s. It's just the download rate that's the issue. Whenever any of our users save anything to OneDrive and the document is no longer cached, they have to wait for what feels like an eternity for the file to be downloaded before it can be opened. If they're opening the file via an application, then that application will hang and stop responding until the file has been downloaded from their OneDrive. Before we switched to Microsoft 365, we hosted everything locally. Anything we tried to open would do so almost instantly. But using OneDrive feels like we have travelled back in time to the days of 56K/ISDN. If this is how OneDrive has been designed, then it should not be labelled as a business service. There are other solutions out there from competitors that outperform OneDrive, and unfortunately if these issues are not resolved soon, I doubt we will be the only business who migrates away from OneDrive or even Microsoft altogether.25KViews2likes13CommentsOneDrive 12.53.10 crashing on iOS 15.0.2
We have a bunch of ipads that we manage with Intune and it appears that the latest version of Onedrive (12.53.10) is not compatible with iOS 15.0.2. When trying to open OneDrive, it crashed out immediately. I have tried restarting the iPad and also reinstalling OneDrive but nothing is working. This is happening across our entire org. Is anyone else having this issue?2.9KViews0likes4CommentsRemoved Documents on D Drive?
I have a PC with Win 10 on C drive, but all my documents (pictures, music, documents) live on the D drive, which is a separate 3TB HDD drive on my PC. I noticed that in Windows Explorer "Documents" folder was pointing to the OneDrive folder and not the Documents folder on my D: drive. So I attempted to unlink OneDrive from my PC and told it not to sync with all my folders. A couple folders were grayed out, in particular the documents folder. So, I told OneDrive to completely unlink from this PC. I had no idea that OneDrive was even linked in any way to the Documents folder on my D drive, however, after telling OneDrive to go away I don't want you anymore, now everything in my documents folder on my D drive is just, gone. I checked Recycle Bin, not there. I did a reset/restore to a earlier date (two days ago), but this did not bring anything in the folder back. What happened? Where did all the documents go?44Views1like2CommentsOneDrive cannot die!
I cannot get rid of OneDrive on my Windows 11 Pro. (Upgraded from Home ver) First, on poor advice, I just deleted it from Programs & Files. That did not work. I reinstalled it and it got even worse. Everything wants to use the Taskbar tab that has Never existed even if I try and tie OD to it! I have disabled it from Startup using both Task Manager & Taskkill commands. I have disabled it with the Group Policy Editor. I have disabled it in the Register. I have found dozens (actually hundreds) of instructions online for getting rid of it, but so far, they ALL show screens that are completely unlike mine, or settings, choices & drop-down menus mine does not have! VERY FRUSTRATING. I have copied all the files within the OneDrive folder to another. But, if I try and delete the OneDrive folder (EVEN AFTER DELETING OneDrive) my desktop, documents, etc. all GO AWAY! When I try and save a file anywhere on the boot drive, the stupid OneDrive is out of space message STILL appears! I have so many app’s (programs) installed that are now unavailable to reload, that I cannot either do a Windows reload or clean install without losing a vast amount of software I depend on. I am fairly ‘puter literate, but at 79 years, I have forgot a lot, and NEED HELP!66Views0likes1Comment- 73Views0likes2Comments
