Hi, Synchronization issues across multiple computers. I am updating spreadsheets and PDF's on one computer, and then try to pick it up on another computer and it is not downloading the most recent copy from the server. I will double-click the file that is supposedly up to date, and then it downloads/opens a version that is several days old. Then I try to update again accordingly and then save and then it says "MERGE CONFLICT BLAH BLAH BLAH" I try downloading a copy from the server to my downloads folder (by logging into OneDrive via web browser), replace it with the existing old file locally and then open it again and try to save and then says "UPLOAD BLOCKED" blah blah blah. It seems I am in a no-win situation here. I have tried un-linking the machine and then re-downloading all the files but it just does not fetch the most recent version of whatever few recent files I worked on. I am running into a synchronization nightmare, please advise. What changed in the last month or so when all these problems are coming up for me? Never had this nonsense before. Thanks, Emile24Views0likes1CommentHow to delete old OneDrive folder from computer
Previously, I used OneDrive with one account and have now unlinked that account from OneDrive. After that, I deleted the OneDrive app on my computer and reinstalled the OneDrive app and logged into the new account. However, I cannot delete the old OneDrive folder from my computer. It keeps giving me errors and won't let me delete it. Please help me and show me how to delete the old OneDrive folder24KViews2likes15CommentsLost all Onedrive files
I manage my Onedrive files primarily on my desktop and when I went into my computer today I couldn’t access any file because they all had the red X sync error. Then I went into the web to access them and they were all gone. I checked the recycle bin and restore and nothing was there. Any idea what happened and how I can get my files back? I have multiple accounts (two for work and one personal) and this was my personal account. My work is doing updates on my work laptop this week and my concern is somehow they deleted all my personal files.39Views0likes1CommentOneDrive and Windows File Explorer

I am sharing just certain folders with an individual but in File Explorer you cant see the names of the folders above the shared folder. On a MAC it shows the file structure from TOP to were the shared file is . Any suggestions? Thanks, Brad38Views0likes1CommentOneDrive Context Menu Missing on Windows 11
OneDrive Context menu missing Hi guys, I’m having some issues regarding OneDrive and it’s Context Menu not being present on files. Environment: Windows 11 23H2, Intune managed OneDrive Build: 25.005.0112.30003 (64-bit) Affected users: all I tried all the fixes I could find on the Internet, but none have helped. Devices don’t have issues with synchronization, they only have an issue with the Context Menu missing. I can only see Always Keep on this Device and Free Up Space. Even if I press Show More Options, only the same only two previously mentioned appear. Is there anything else which I could have missed? Intune policies – no one seems to control such a thing, the context menu. Is there really not a known fix for this issue? 1. UAC control - ⦁ How to change the User Account Control policies to allow OneDrive context menus - Microsoft Support In my case, both explorer and onedrive are with No, at the Elevated status According to the above article, the following Local Security policies are in place: 2. Check if the shell extension is blocked Add or Remove "Move to OneDrive" context menu in Windows 11 | Windows 11 Forum The Key Blocked did not even exist on the device. I’ve went and added it manually, for both current user and all users, nothing has changed. 3. Fresh install of OneDrive, downloaded from ⦁ Download the OneDrive App for PC, Mac, Android, or iOS – Microsoft OneDrive – no luck 4. Reinstalling OneDrive with /allusers parameter – no luck. Had a look through HKRoot\* - nothing I did made a difference. I am working for the MSP Lucrasoft, we use an RMM to automate powershell scripts to workdevices to monitor them. We get a lot of "OneDrive for Business, error with syncing" alerts. What I always see is that if OneDrive is restarted (manually) the sync is done again and the error is solved. Do people have a powershell script to "re sync", a script that we can initialize when an alert like this is coming up. So we don't have to manually restart or reïnstall onedrive to solve it16Views0likes0CommentsIssue with accessing personal vault on OneDrive app post restart
When I opened my onedrive mobile app today the app pushed a message saying that a restart was required. I restarted the app and it told me to set up my personal vault. I've been using my personal vault for several years now so no set up was required. When I logged into my personal vault, all of the files within it were missing. They're available on the online version of onedrive but not in the app version. There's nothing in the recycling bin and there's no recent activity to suggest mass movement/deletion of files. I've restarted the app multiple times, tried with and without wifi, and have tried on different devices - all are showing an empty vault. Has anyone had this problem? Is this a syncing issue or a bug with the new app?76Views2likes2CommentsSize Discrepancy Between /drives & /root Endpoints
To preface this post, please view the below link. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/1257868/microsoft-onedrive-drive-size-is-different-in-driv When retrieving the total size of a drive via the /drives endpoint - one gets a response as follows. { "deleted": 3143, "remaining": 212025579370, "state": "normal", "total": 1099511627776, "used": 887486045263 } When retrieving the same drive via its /drives/{id}/root endpoint - it returns the following metric. "size": 75217259136 The 'used' metric matches the Microsoft Admin Center OneDrive usage panel. The 'size' metric matches the actual downloaded size of the drive. What is the cause for a discrepancy of 800 GB? A response to the other post details, "The difference between the two values is the additional space used by the system." Could I have some specifics of where I could acquire this system data (or at the very least view some metadata for it)? Thanks!14Views0likes0CommentsOneDrive repeatedly misguiding users
Hi, Just letting you guys know that you are pushing the OneDrive agenda way too much and you are repeatedly misguiding and misrepresenting users on how and where they should store their files, without acquiring proper permission, without disclosing proper procedures, and without informing users on the consequences of their decisions. It's not your place to dictate to users how they should store their files and where to store them and organize them. Additionally, I have brought this up to support in the past: Windows Updates get installed and before I can even login, I get these blue screen prompts to go back to using Edge, as well as to use OneDrive, and to "Backup with OneDrive." The users are essentially being pushed or tricked into agreeing with whatever you want them to do and this is completely wrong. Where do these backups go? What are the folder structures? What "apps" get backed up? How do you offer Restoration in the event of a failure? What is the proper procedure to recover lost files? Do you have File/Version History? Who said it's correct, for example, to synchronize the Windows Desktop among computers? Who is issuing all these incorrect procedures on file management, backup, and synchronization?13Views0likes0CommentsRecent files
Recent files show files have been accessed today within minutes of this message. I have not accessed these files in most cases in months and in some cases years. I have tried Microsoft support but they haven't been able to help. Example: I have a word document called AC placement. I have not opened that document in more than a month. In the Recent area it shows that I accessed that document at 3:20 PM today, minutes before this post. I have excel document callled Sprinklers which I have not opened in 6 months. It lists ti as opened on 10/19/2023 at 12:10 PM. I am trying to understand if there is a probelm with oneDrive or is someone else accessing my documents through oneDrive.40KViews0likes17CommentsTroubleshooting OneDrive Sync Issues: A Step-by-Step Guide

Hi, I'm trying to use Onedrive and Onenote, but it seems to be really terrible 50% of the time. Sometimes when I log on my pc, it says I have to log in, and in doing so, is stuck on a "signing in" loop, until it says some error code about me not having an internet connection. Here's what I've tried: 1. Close and open Onedrive 2. Removing auth from the pc and adding it again 3. Reinstalling Onedrive 4. Change Wi-Fi 5. Do a /reset in Windows run AND cmd 6. Update drivers 7. Install the newest Onedrive from the website 8. Try the app-version found in Windows Store What am I supposed to do? I don't want to restart my pc every time it doesn't work, that's a terrible fix.266KViews3likes46CommentsFile Explorer slow in Onedrive Folders
Hi all I'm using the latest version of Onedrive together with an updated Windows 11 and FSLogix (latest version) with Office profile disks. When using the file explorer to open folders from onedrive folders in the middle pane, it takes 10-20 seconds till the next window opens. When navigating in the same file explorer window but with the left treeview, everything is fast. When opening a file from within Word, Excel, ... with the popup file explorer, everything is fast. So the issue is only when clicking in the main window of a file explorer. I've done already all the updates, sfc, dism, reinstalled Onedrive, ... The issue is with all users.24KViews7likes24CommentsOneDrive Q regarding file access from 2 systems
Scenario: Within the root of one drive I have a directory named RESOURCE_FILES. Within that I have a txt file named MyFile.txt . SCENARIO1: I am at my laptop (named MyLP01) connected to one drive and using a text editor app (note NotePad) I open MyFile.txt that is in OneDrive. If I move to my workstation (MyPC01) and open MyFile.txt using a text editor (not NotePad) I can have teh file open on both systems. If a change is made to MyFile.txt on either PC, the other will get a notice that the file has changed and tge text editor app asks me if I want to reload the updated file. This is expected behavior. SCENARIO2: I am at my laptop (named MyLP01) connected to one drive and using a text editor app (note NotePad) I open MyFile.txt that is in OneDrive. Without closing the file or altering it, I activate teh VPN to my office and then I launch RDP (Remote Desktop) and connect my pc at work (MyWORKPC01). I then launch a text editor app (not NotePad) and open MyFile.txt located in OneDrive. When I try to open teh file after about 15-20 seconds I get an error msg that there is a problem accessing teh file. Why in scenario 1 can I have 1 file in OneDrive open from 2 different systems but I can't in scenario#2? Thanks6Views0likes0CommentsSharing Link - Something Went Wrong
I've had a lot of trouble recently with the use of sharing links. I'll create a sharing link from within Office, send it out, then when someone clicks on it the link doesn't work. Yesterday this happened, so I created a new sharing link, then tested it myself. The other users were able to access the document and respond with comments, so this morning I updated the document, and when I look in OneDrive now, the document is no longer listed as Shared and the sharing link that worked yesterday no longer works. Has anyone else observed this sort of behavior and have you found any solutions? The error you get on attempted access is: Sorry, something went wrong Sorry, you cannot access this document. Please contact the person who shared it with you. TECHNICAL DETAILS Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation. Why can I not see the 'People' section in Photos on the OneDrive app that is depicted in the following Microsoft support topic titled 'Group photos by people'.
