Today we announced the private preview of Universal Print. Universal Print is the modern, cloud-based print solution that provides robust and centralized print management capabilities and a straightforward end user experience, while eliminating the need to maintain traditional on-premises print servers, active directory, or install printer drivers.

Check out the announcement on the Windows IT Pro Blog for more details and for information on how to participate in the preview. We'll provide updates moving forward in this blog so make sure you Follow us for the latest details!

  • Issa Khoury ,

This is a fantastic project. I have also filled in the private preview form and am looking forward to getting this up and running.

I support the SME sector that has been asking for this type of access to on premise printer for what seems like forever.

When I am accessing the Universal Printer blade in Azure I am getting an error about not being able to access the resource, I assume this is due to the private preview requirement.

So far the on premise connector has installed with no problem, even the additional requirement of .net 4.x.x that is installed.

The registering of Ricoh and HP local printers failed upon registering the connector, once again I assume this to be due to the private preview registration requirements.

Looking forward to pushing on with getting this fully setup so can test further.

    Cheers

    Stay Safe

  • hi kristiaan, we are working on it. We've had a lot of interest, which is great but will take us time to get through the list.  Thank you for your patience.

When will the Universal Print reach 'normal' preview status so everyone can use it. We are in desperate need of such a solution and the Hybrid Cloudprint is a drag 🙂

b.t.w. i filled in the application for the private preview so i would love to test it in our setup.

Something that I would be interested in hearing more about is what printer models will not require the Universal Print connector (both immediately and in the coming future).
