Today we announce the launch of a new solution that addresses a critical enterprise challenge: keeping mobile and hybrid employees productive with secured 5G connectivity, wherever work happens.
The Ericsson Enterprise 5G Connect solution, which has been validated on Microsoft Surface 5G devices, is built on top of enterprise managed cellular connectivity capabilities native to Windows 11. This solution is now being piloted by Ericsson and its preview customers to deliver fast, reliable connectivity to enable AI-driven productivity for today’s mobile workforce—with the manageability enterprises need to operate at scale.
“AI-powered 5G laptops are redefining how and where work gets done. Together with Microsoft and leading CSP partners, we’re enabling organizations to seamlessly automate the deployment and operations of secure, always-connected devices regardless location— creating a smarter, more responsive workplace for the AI era. This joint solution has the potential to transform enterprise IT and employee ways of working around the world."– Erik Ekudden, Chief Technology Officer, Ericsson
Enterprise 5G Connect
Instead of relying on a single carrier or manual SIM swaps, Ericsson’s Enterprise 5G Connect solution will allow organizations to automatically connect Windows 11 5G-enabled devices to the best available network, whether that is private 5G in the office or public 5G on the road. Switching happens in the background, so employees stay connected without needing to troubleshoot network settings or connectivity. Enterprise 5G Connect leverages Ericsson’s relationships with global carriers, enabling organizations to scale connectivity across regions and use cases.
Enterprise managed cellular connectivity
Enterprise managed cellular connectivity is a native Windows capability that, when integrated with Microsoft Intune, provides organizations with centralized control and customization of cellular connectivity on Windows 11 PCs. As a part of Microsoft’s security and management stack, it is designed to help reduce gaps in connectivity and security: IT departments can automate eSIM provisioning, set network priority policies, and manage connectivity at scale. Automatic enterprise policy enforcement and compliance help organizations stay in control of which networks devices can join, preventing connections to untrusted public Wi-Fi networks. These new automatic switching and cellular preference capabilities enhance security, enabling a more secure pathway to corporate data and apps for employees. Managed cellular connectivity in Windows is the foundation for Ericsson Enterprise 5G Connect and future partner solutions.
A Complete Solution for Enterprise Mobility and Security
Microsoft’s hardware and software expertise, combined with Ericsson’s cellular network innovation, will provide unified, policy-driven control over device connectivity.
Enterprise managed cellular connectivity makes Windows 11 the only enterprise-ready laptop operating system for enabling 5G workloads. These robust management capabilities are enabled and managed through Microsoft Intune—the leading unified endpoint management solution for enterprises. And Microsoft Surface 5G devices combine always-on connectivity with premium AI-ready hardware, without compromising on performance.
Employees benefit from a more consistent, seamless productivity experience, while IT teams gain tools to enforce policies, reduce complexity, and strengthen security across private and public 5G networks.
