What was being a Student Ambassador like?

Being a Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador was an extraordinary and transformative experience. It provided me with countless opportunities for personal and professional growth. Starting my journey in July 2022, I progressed from an Alpha MLSA to Beta and eventually to Gold status, a milestone I reached about a year ago. Each step of this journey brought new challenges, responsibilities, and learning experiences that significantly shaped who I am today.

Organizing over 30 tech events was a thrilling adventure. Most of these events revolved around cloud computing and Azure, which are areas I'm deeply passionate about. The events allowed me to share knowledge, promote cutting-edge technologies, and inspire other students to explore cloud solutions and innovations. It was immensely satisfying to see the impact these sessions had, as attendees became more curious and engaged with technology.

One of the most rewarding aspects was the sense of community and collaboration. The MLSA program not only taught me the essentials of community building but also showed me the true value of forming strong, supportive networks. I had the privilege of working alongside like-minded peers, engaging with tech enthusiasts, and receiving guidance from industry experts. Through these connections, I gained insights, broadened my perspectives, and felt inspired to do more.

Was there a specific experience you had while you were in the program that had a profound impact on you and why?

One of the most profound experiences I had as a Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador was being deeply involved in mentorship, networking, and organizing impactful events. A highlight of my journey was our work on a Social Impact Project: The Devcon International Conference. This two-day online conference was a major milestone, featuring international speakers and attracting tech enthusiasts from all over. It was an extraordinary moment for our community, as even our program director, Pablo, attended and delivered inspiring keynotes. The experience of coordinating such a large-scale event, bringing in global experts, and managing logistics was both challenging and exhilarating. It gave me a firsthand understanding of the effort required to create an event of this magnitude and the joy of seeing the community benefit from it.

Tell us about a technology you had the chance to gain a skillset in as a Student Ambassador. How has this skill you acquired helped you in your post-university journey

During my time as a Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador, I had the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge and skills in cloud computing, specifically with Microsoft Azure. As I organized numerous tech events focused on Azure, I developed a strong understanding of cloud services, including infrastructure management, deploying scalable applications, data storage solutions, and utilizing various Azure DevOps tools. This hands-on experience with Azure not only enhanced my technical expertise but also prepared me to handle real-world cloud-based projects with confidence.

These cloud computing skills have already begun to impact my post-university journey. With cloud technology being integral to modern software development, my Azure expertise has made me well-equipped to contribute effectively to professional environments. I have been able to leverage this knowledge in building and optimizing cloud-based systems, which is crucial for roles in tech companies that require cloud proficiency. Additionally, understanding how to design and manage scalable, secure applications has given me an edge in navigating the fast-evolving demands of the tech industry, making me a more adaptable and valuable team member.

What advice would you give to new Student Ambassadors, who are just starting in the program?

New Student Ambassadors, here’s my advice: dive in headfirst and embrace everything the program has to offer. You’ve got a world of resources at your fingertips, so make the most of Microsoft Learn and get involved in community events right from the start. Don’t be shy—ask questions, seek help, and connect with other Ambassadors and mentors. Trust me, this network is full of amazing people who want to see you succeed.

Find what you’re passionate about, whether it’s cloud computing, AI, or something else, and let that drive your projects. Organizing events might seem overwhelming at first, but every challenge is a chance to level up your skills. Team up with other Ambassadors, brainstorm ideas, and work together to create something impactful. Collaboration can take your projects to the next level.

Tell us something interesting about you, about your journey.

Something interesting about my journey is that I’ve always loved taking on challenges that push me to grow. Balancing my academic life with the Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador Program has been an adventure, but one that’s been full of rewarding experiences. One moment that stands out is when I helped organize the Devcon International Conference, a massive two-day online event that featured global speakers, including our program director, Pablo. Managing this project while staying on top of my studies taught me the true meaning of resilience and teamwork.
