Skype Room Systems is now Microsoft Teams Rooms
- Ilya BukshteynMicrosoft
Shaun Jennings Well for Microsoft Teams meetings, you need a Teams capable resource account, which means you need an O365 tenant, and one of our O365 Room Systems licenses (I believe $15/month).
If you only want to enable Skype for Business meetings on MTR, you can use either an SfB Online resource account in an O365 tenant, or you can use an appropriate SfB Server account with appropriate client access licensing.
Does that answer your question?
Ilya Bukshteyn I've noticed you used 'MTR' in your response above, and am wondering if that is just internal shorthand or if that initialism will become officially accepted for Microsoft Teams Room in the way that SRS is used for Skype Room System?

Jeff Schertz I'm a long time Microsoftie so I do use TLAs a lot :-) SRS was actually never "official" for Skype Room Systems either, so not sure how "official" MTR is / will be, but its a lot faster to type so I'm sure it will get used a lot.

Nate Mills - Yes, I'm thinking so. However, I won't make the move until I post as such to this blog.

Any special licensing for Microsoft Teams Rooms to function within a tenant?

Ilya Bukshteyn - any comments to Shaun's question above?

Does that mean that future announcements for MTR version updates will move to the Teams tech community?

David Groom Are there any plans to support interactive white boarding on MTR / SRSv2? With the addition of Microsoft Whiteboard to M365 and the advertising of collaboration features across the ecosystem, it seems like this would make sense to be a part of Teams Rooms? We have interactive displays in a number of our conference spaces and would love to be able to incorporate the Teams Room Systems in those.

cbright we did announce at the last Microsoft Ignite that we plan to bring support for ink / touch displays to MTR in H1CY19. We are also bringing support for the Microsoft Whiteboard to Microsoft Teams. So Stay tuned for more info on this topic in the next few months.
