The OneDrive team is committed to bringing you the best, most secure experience possible across your devices.

Starting September 10, 2021, we are ending support for the OneDrive sync app on macOS Sierra 10.12 and macOS High Sierra 10.13 and focusing our resources on new technologies and supported operating systems. This update will impact both OneDrive business and personal users.

Note: Both macOS Sierra 10.12 and macOS High Sierra 10.13 have been out of Apple’s mainline support since September 2019 and November 2020, respectively.

How users will be impacted on September 10th, 2021:

  • Existing OneDrive sync app installations on unsupported operating systems will stop updating. These clients will continue to run, but their functionality will no longer be tested. It is not advised to continue to run on these unsupported operating systems.
  • New installations on unsupported operating systems will be blocked.
  • Bugs and issues found on or specific to unsupported operating systems will no longer be investigated or fixed.

Going forward, only the three most recent versions of macOS will be supported. When a new major version of macOS is released, we will support the new version and the previous two versions.

To ensure a smooth transition we recommend that you upgrade machines accordingly. We recommend you upgrade to macOS Mojave 10.14 or above.

For the best user experience and longest support lifecycle, we recommend upgrading to macOS Big Sur 11.0 or above.

Thanks,

OneDrive Team

Yup! Thing is that we do have a 365 sub and do use it, but now forced to use other measures on our older machines...

    Such a shame Microsoft.

It´s so weird than Microsoft is urging people to buy new apples... I think all of them is the same mafia... What happen if I am an actual Office365 suscriber but you dont want to give me the service I am paying? I am paying you the chance to use your services, if you are not able to give it why are you charging the money? what a shame microsoft.

hello, i have a difficulty accessing my onedrive account on my iMac.  i just made an update on the same to version 12.3 of macOS Monterey and could not possibly open my onedrive account.  it would inform me that "ACCOUNT ALREADY CONNECTED.  A different version of the OneDrive app is already connected to this account."

i already tried uninstalling my onedrive account from my 2010 MacBook pro but still i still have the same issue.  i tried the tips on restarting the app but i still have not solved my problem.  please help.

    thank you

We still have a few old macs in the office that cannot go higher than High Sierra.

I have 1 that has an issue with Onedrive now and I cannot reinstall it.

Please help as this is a vital part of our little business, and unfortunately we cannot afford to upgrade to a newer fancy mac.

I just need to be able to sync our Onedrive on this one machione again.

    Please help....

    Thank you.

It is not yet the end of support (Sept 10, 2021) for OneDrive on Sierra 10.12.6 yet I cannot login to Microsoft OneDrive from my iMac that is running this OS.

I'm trying to prepare for this change but cannot access my drive.

While I understand the reasons that support for older OS’s is being discontinued and no longer updated, I find it highly questionable and inconceivable that should I decide to reinstall one of the unsupported OS’s I would not be able to reinstall the OneDrive app on said system.

If it works on an unsupported system as long as it is not removed, why should the same program not work if it is reinstalled?
