In February, the MVP blog is looking at those helping diverse communities around the world.

We start in Nepal where Azure MVP Pradeep Kandel has been helping meet the growing demand for IT professionals in the Himalayan nation.

He has done this by driving Microsoft academic initiatives at the local level – such as the Microsoft Imagine Cup – in order to empower students to acquire a highly scalable, intelligent and competitive Azure skillset.

“Over the last few years, demand for IT has been growing across industries like never before. Nepal is no exception to this. Among the skills in demand, Microsoft tech skills such as Azure almost tops the list around the world,” Pradeep says.

Pradeep says this year’s Imagine Cup – a local version of the global event hosted by Nepal Cloud Professionals – was a success because of how it connected the Microsoft community ecosystem.

From MVPs to Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors, Nepal’s Microsoft community rallied for one powerhouse networking event that united current MVP torchbearers with the next generation.

“There was so much to learn from each other when all of us came together under the same roof,” Pradeep remarks.

Pradeep credits Microsoft’s many academic initiatives at the local level in Nepal, as well as globally, for the success of the event.

He also states the buy-in from students and professionals who want to create this sort of a networking event provides a comprehensive knowledge base that reaches “into every nook and corner” of Nepal.

As a result, no student interested in learning Azure is left behind “in this era of digital transformation—particularly for those who are seeking to build their career in high tech industry,” he says.
