We are making improvements to Meeting Details in OneNote on Windows to help you quickly capture meeting context so you can focus on what you do best: run meetings effectively and follow up flawlessly.

Evolving the Meeting Details Experience

The new Meeting Details is in the same familiar location in the ribbon, now with an improved meeting selection experience.

This update is the foundation for us to bring new meeting-related contents to your notebooks and is the first of a series that we are planning to roll out. Some of the features that you can look forward to including that were mentioned in our previous blog include:

  • View and edit Loop collaborative notes directly in OneNote
  • Access Meeting Recap content, including AI-generated notes and tasks (Teams Premium users only)
  • Improved collapsible sections featuring icons in section titles for easier navigation
  • Suggested contextual Meeting Details within OneNote

    Good to hear.

Are you planning on introducing an @mention capability within OneNote as you have with Word, Excel, PPT ?

Disappointed that with this update, we somehow lost functionality that automatically inserts meeting invitees email addresses when we "email page." That was the primary reason I used OneNote for meetings.

Another poorly executed update with no way, (as far as I can see) to roll it back. The new format of meeting details is untidy, nested paragraphs where previously everything was in line. The notes heading is no longer formatted as a Heading 1, it's simply bold and and the next paragraph follows the same formatting and remains bold. Thus every time you insert meeting details you have to manually change the formatting (which has previously been correct up till now). Microsoft if you are going to roll out updates could you at least try not to break the things that were already working?

  • jonathanc any idea when this is coming out for Onenote? We were told q4 for Loop components within OneNote.

Ideally, it would be great if we could have recurring meetings with Teams Premium recaps to be within loop components but have them autoinserted into OneNote  pages so teams could expand on auto meeting recap notes (and tasks) within OneNote pages...

For the Meeting Details enhancement, I think its quite good. Is there still a way to refresh the meeting details once they are imported into a OneNote page? There used to be that function. Thanks.

This update broke the meeting detail integration with Outlook for me. No calendar information appears in the dropdown. I am obliged to use Google Workspace with Outlook on my current engagement, but it has worked seamlessly up into this update.

    Any suggestions?

  • Hey WJohnJ ,

The updated Meeting Details does not currently support 3rd party email accounts.  We are aware of this limitation and are exploring solutions. Meanwhile, we have included the ability to toggle the older version which supports Google email accounts. This can be done by going to File, selecting Options, and then choosing Meeting Details!

Can we please allow for the Meeting Details template to be modified by users?  As pointed out above, the formatting has actually gotten worse and it requires manual upkeep.  Love the tool, frustrated by the limitations of the meeting details functionality.

OneNote Meeting Details No Longer Updates the participants Section with Invitees added after the OneNote Page had been created.  Prior to this upgrade you could set up a re-occuring meeting with the Standing members.  Then as you invite SMEs for specific meetings you could go to Meeting Details, select Refresh Meeting Details for this Page.  It would add to the Partiipants section the Names and Email addresses for anyone added to the invite via Outlook.   This is a huge loss.
