Hi everyone,
One of the questions that customers often ask us is: What is the extent of support for running a Remote Desktop Connection session within another Remote Desktop Connection session (a scenario also known as “nested sessions” or “pass through sessions”)? A very common use case for this is to connect to a Remote Desktop Session Host server or a virtual machine-based desktop first and then access RemoteApp programs from within the remote session.
We are glad to announce that Remote Desktop Protocol 8.0 is tested for and supports “nested sessions” in configurations that customers have most often asked for. We just published the KB article Running a Remote Desktop Connection session within another Remote Desktop Connection session is supported with Remote Desktop Protocol 8.0 for specific scenarios that details the tested and supported configurations. Hopefully this answers your questions and gives you a clear understanding of what is supported. Please let us know if you have questions.
NOTE: Questions and comments are welcome. For all technical questions and troubleshooting, please post a new thread in the RDS & TS Forum .
