My name is David Bélanger, and I work in the Remote Desktop team. Yesterday, we released an update for the Remote Desktop app for Windows Phone 8.1 (Version 8.1.9) containing two changes to improve the Remote Desktop Gateway scenario that was recently added. Thank you for your continued feedback on the feature requests site to help us improve the scenarios that matter to you.
Read about the changes we’ve made in Version 8.1.9:
Connect through a Remote Desktop Gateway configured without a trusted certificateWhile we strongly recommend configuring your Remote Desktop Gateway with a trusted certificate to ensure a more secure connection, we realize there are some cases where that is not possible. With this update, we will prompt you to review the certificate and decide if it’s safe to connect using this gateway. The prompt will be familiar if you have connected to a PC without a trusted certificate.

Connect through a Remote Desktop Gateway using a custom port
With this update, you may now connect to a gateway using a custom port. To do so, optionally add “ :Port” after the Server name for the gateway you are adding.

Try it todayI encourage you to download the Remote Desktop app from the Windows Phone store and try out the new features.
The Remote Desktop app is also available on your other devices running Windows 8.1 , iOS , Mac OS X , and Android .
Note: Questions and comments are welcome. However, please DO NOT post a request for troubleshooting by using the comment tool at the end of this post. Instead, post a new thread in the Remote Desktop clients forum . Thank you!
