If you're a Mac user in healthcare, I've got some exciting news to share with you. Microsoft has introduced some fantastic new Copilot experiences for Mac, specifically within Microsoft Outlook. If you're already a fan of Copilot in Teams, on the web, and other places, you're going to love these updates. Let's dive into the details!

What's New?

The same amazing Copilot experience that you're used to in Teams and other Microsoft applications is now available in Microsoft Outlook for Mac. You can find the Copilot app directly in the left app bar of Outlook, alongside your contacts and calendars. This makes it incredibly convenient to access Copilot's powerful features right from your email client.

Unified Experience Across Applications

With these new features, you can start accessing Copilot directly from the Outlook app, just like you can in other Microsoft applications. This unified experience ensures that you have consistent access to Copilot's capabilities, no matter which app you're using.

Preview and Rollout

These new features are currently in preview and will be rolling out globally this month, January 2025. If you're an admin, make sure to pay attention to your application update rings so you can start testing these features before they roll out to all users.

Install Copilot as an App Through Your Browser

For those who prefer a dedicated app experience, I've got you covered. I'll show you how to install Copilot as an app on your Mac using Edge, Chrome, and Safari. This approach leverages the "install as an app" and "add to dock" features, giving you a dedicated Copilot application right at your fingertips.

How to Install Copilot as an App

  1. Edge: Go to the URL you want to create an app from, click the menu, and select "Install this site as an app." Give it a name and hit install.
  2. Chrome: Similar to Edge, navigate to the URL, click the menu, and select "Install this site as an app."
  3. Safari: Go to the URL, click "File" at the top, and select "Add to Dock." Give it a name and hit add.

The new Microsoft Copilot experience on Mac is designed to make your life easier and more productive and help get things done! I hope you find these new features as exciting as I do.

***The article has been updated to accurately reflect the current status of feature launches. The features mentioned above are in preview, while other features are still under development.***

So you are talking about a "super new user-experience" in Outlook for Mac - what a lie I can only tell. There are so many features that are still missing in comparison to Outlook for Windows and which takes Microsoft years to implement, because they want you to use the Windows-version! As a paying Office 365 user I can only say that's a shame. In comparison the "old version" of Outlook for Mac is far more functional - the old version allows at least to remove file attachments from received e-mails. The new version can't do this - answer of the support: "it still a beta" - WTF Microsoft!

And to be honest - who cares about CoPilot? It's just a silly gimmick which costs a lot of money...

Thank you, Georg_Peter for sharing your thoughts and feedback. I understand your frustration regarding the differences between Outlook for Mac and Outlook for Windows. I have recently met the teams that cover Outlook for Mac and learned they continuously are working to bridge these gaps and improve the user experience across all platforms.

Regarding the new version of Outlook for Mac, I acknowledge that some features from the old version are still being integrated. Your feedback about removing file attachments from received emails is valuable, and I will pass it on to our development team. I appreciate your patience as we work to enhance the functionality.

As for Copilot, it's designed to assist users by automating repetitive tasks and providing intelligent suggestions, ultimately aiming to boost productivity. Personally, I use it to help rewrite emails and extract information from previous calls and meetings to aid with research and responses. While it might not be for everyone, many users, like myself, find it helpful in managing their daily tasks more efficiently and would be happy to connect to see how I could help!

I appreciate and value your input. If you have any further concerns or suggestions, please don't hesitate to reach out. Thank you for the read and being part of our community!

michaelgoadFirst, Microsoft can be so lucky to have guys like you and thank you for your kind reply. Anyhow I spent so many frustrating hours with the Microsoft-support promising me that they will bridge these gaps asap and keep on improving the user experiences and also to integrate the feature which will let you remove file attachments - problem is, this was years, respectively months ago - to sum it up: in the end only empty words. So I can only hope that you are really that close to the development team to be able to let them know how frustrating the user experience is and that we, the paying customers, are desperately waiting for improvements - nowadays so many corporates are switching to Mac and the employees are enjoying it but they are definitely not enjoying the experience of Office 365 for Mac. The development team can feel free to contact me for further details at any time. Thank you!
