IT admins and business leaders have been asking for this for a long time: real sharing controls for Copilot agents. With the evolution from Agent Builder to Copilot Studio Lite, Microsoft has introduced a feature that gives organizations the guardrails they need to keep agent experiences secure.
Why It Matters:
Agents often connect to sensitive data sources like Microsoft Graph or third-party connectors. Without proper sharing controls, these agents could be exposed to the entire organization, creating compliance and security risks. This update solves that problem.
What’s New:
Admins can now manage who can create org-wide sharing links for Copilot Studio agents. This means you can:
- Allow all users to share agents org-wide
- Restrict sharing completely
- Limit sharing to specific users or groups
How to Configure It:
- Go to Microsoft Admin Center
- Navigate to Settings > Data Access
- Select Agents
- Under Sharing Permissions, choose:
- All users
- No users
- Specific users or groups
- Save your changes
What Happens Next:
When restricted, the “Anyone” link in Copilot Studio Lite will be grayed out. Users can only share agents with themselves or specific people you allow.
