As we plan our newer version of Exchange Online PowerShell module, we want to simplify and enhance performance and modernize Exchange Online admin experience. Our goals include streamlining mailbox management, improving cmdlet performance, and introducing RESTful APIs to meet the demands of modern automation solutions and AI agents.
Exchange Online Cmdlet Changes
To address pain points associated with current Exchange Online PowerShell cmdlets and our plans to resolve these issues, we wanted to propose a few changes. These changes are described in detail in the survey we have prepared for you: https://forms.office.com/r/hFXCMJPpgv.
This survey is organized in 2 sections, each focusing on a specific area. We would appreciate hearing how these improvements could assist you in your management scenarios. We’d also welcome any feedback or suggestions for further enhancements.
- Section 1: Focus on our approach to simplify mailbox CRUD (Create, Read, Update, and Delete) operations by introducing distinct cmdlets for each mailbox type.
- Section 2: Focus on our proposed modifications to improve the performance of Exchange Online cmdlets highlighting 5 changes that will be introduced. For each change, we have additional questions to better understand your preferences.

A different survey will help us get more in-depth understanding of requests to provide REST APIs to manage Exchange Online Admin scenarios.
