I recently came across an issue, where a farm was missing two important timer job definitions. Those were the Application Server Timer Job and the Application Server Administration Service Timer Job. It’s not entirely clear what you can do to restore these. After some investigation, with the help of Joe Rodgers, we figured out that those timer jobs are created by the Shared Services farm feature. If you need to recreate those jobs, just use STSADM to install the feature again with the force parameter enabled.

stsadm –o installfeature –name SharedServices –force (don’t copy and paste this, since it uses the wrong dash)

Here’s a complete list of what will be recreated.

Application Server Timer Job
Application Server Administration Service Timer Job
Licensing Synchronizer Job
