Public Preview of Azure Migrate from VMware to Azure Stack HCI

Today, we are thrilled to announce the public preview of the Azure Migrate functionality to migrate VMs from VMware to Azure Stack HCI, a significant enhancement in our cloud migration capabilities that seamlessly extends to the edge, in line with our adaptive cloud approach.

The core of this release lies within the integration of Azure Migrate with our adaptive cloud framework, facilitating a smooth transition of Virtual machines from VMware to Azure Stack HCI.   • Resolved: I found the cause - it was not the target appliance we had selected -  make sure to read the docs 😉

     

    We have created a new Azure Migrate project to test and hopes to be able to used for migration of the VMWare VMs,  but are getting this message preventing us to contine. 

    We have deployed the source applicance and VM's have been discovered successfully and the Azure Stack HCI cluster have been registred

     

    And the linked recovery services vault says replicating to Azure

     

    Anyone else seeing this

    We successfully managed to migrate a newly created WS2022 VM from VMware to HCI.

    But, whenever we try to migrate an upgraded (ws2019 or 2016 to 2022) server to HCI we can no longer RDP to the VM once it's on HCI.

    We always get "RPC server is unavailable" error.

    We checked the usual suspects from here: Error the RPC server is unavailable - Windows Server | Microsoft Learn

    But those do not seem to be the issue.

     

    Did anyone else encounter (and solve) this?

    Nevermind: an old version of McAfee, that causes NO issues on ESXi, crashes during boot on Hyper-V (HCI) subsequently causing Local Session Manager to crash, etc.

    Hi there!

    Any test migrating Linux VM's with this system? Currently this is the pain because for some linux versions, using Veeam to migrate, we need to do some extra tasks in the target vm to permit the boot

    Hi all,

     

    The migration itself worked fine.

    Now I am still blocked at Enable guest management for migrated VMs phase :

    I tried with multiple version for that extension.

    Do you have any idea ?

    Shriramnat Could you please explain more ? 

    Adequate CSS Team is depending how the the Azure subscription is provided right ?

    That is the error message when I try to enable the guest agent on my VMware migrated VM :
