Today, we are excited to announce General Availability (GA) of Copilot in Azure. We are also thrilled to share that the current capabilities of Copilot in Azure at GA will continue to be made available at no additional cost so you can get started today and do more with Azure.

Since we launched Copilot in Azure in an ungated public preview in May 2024, Copilot in Azure has served millions of prompts for hundreds of thousands of users. Within Microsoft alone, we estimate that Copilot saves more than 30,000 developer hours every month. Some of the largest enterprises across multiple segments, including finance, healthcare, and consumer goods, use Copilot to simplify their cloud operations. Over the past year, the team has been working towards improving Copilot in Azure based on customer feedback and we wanted to highlight some of the key areas we have focused on –

  1. Performance – Over the last year, we have improved Copilot in Azure’s response time by over 30%. We have built a faster Copilot experience by improving each layer of the Copilot in Azure stack. In the frontend, we have improved the user experience by implementing techniques like streaming; and in the backend, we have made improvements to the Copilot orchestrator and have improved the performance of individual skills that Copilot relies on. We have also upgraded to newer, quicker base models to get the most performance out of the underlying AI infrastructure we rely on. If you are interested in learning more about how Copilot in Azure is built, you will find this technical deep dive blog helpful.
  2. Accessibility – We want to build a Copilot in Azure that gives everyone the ability to do more with Azure and with that goal in mind, we have made updates to Copilot in Azure’s UI to meet high accessibility standards.
  3. Availability – As a part of this GA milestone, we are happy to share that Copilot in Azure will operate at > 99.9% uptime.
  4. Responsible AI – Copilot in Azure has been built keeping AI fairness, reliability and safety, privacy and security, inclusiveness, transparency, and accountability at the center in accordance to Microsoft’s Responsible AI principles. Each release of Copilot undergoes multiple rounds of testing to identify and mitigate any harmful behaviors or vulnerabilities.
  5. Localization – Copilot in Azure will be available in 19 languages in GA
  6. New capabilities - We are continually adding new capabilities like the ability to author Terraform configuration and to troubleshoot and diagnose your Azure Kubernetes Service clusters to help you become more effective in operating and managing workloads from cloud to edge. For a more comprehensive list of new enhanced scenarios, check out our documentation.

Try out Copilot on the Azure Mobile App
Copilot on the Azure Mobile App has also now reached General Availability. We've been focusing on bringing the improvements we have called out above to Copilot on the Azure mobile app too, including bug fixes, performance optimizations, and enhancements to ensure a smoother and more reliable experience.

With the GA release, users can now enjoy AI chat streaming for real-time conversations, additional entry points within the app, and a new cost management skill to monitor and manage Azure spending. We've also improved accessibility features and expanded localization to support multiple languages.
