New RAMP process in the Cloud Adoption Framework to manage your Azure estate

The Cloud Adoption Framework’s (CAF) Manage methodology outlines the RAMP (Ready, Administer, Monitor, Protect) process for managing your Azure cloud estate. This framework guides organizations of all sizes, from startups to enterprises, in establishing and maintaining cloud operations.

The CAF Manage RAMP Process

The RAMP process covers the management of your entire Azure estate through four key steps:

  1. Ready your Azure operations: Understand your central and workload management responsibilities. Establish and document cloud operations. Manage these operations effectively. Continuously improve them to enhance performance.
  2. Administer your Azure cloud estate: Manage change, compliance, costs, code, runtime, and cloud resources. Address deployments, configuration drift, resource sprawl, and relocation efficiently.
  3. Monitor your Azure cloud estate: Plan and design a monitoring solution to track service health, security, compliance, costs, data, code, and cloud resources. Configure alerts and visualize monitoring data for proactive management.
  4. Protect your Azure cloud estate: Manage reliability based on workload priority. Maintain business continuity. Oversee security operations and respond effectively to incidents.

Cloud management checklist

The Cloud Adoption Framework provides a cloud management checklist to assist in implementing the RAMP process. This checklist outlines specific tasks associated with each step and includes links to related guidance for streamlined navigation. By following this checklist, you can systematically address every aspect of cloud management.
