Emerging Issue: Server or client issues due to ESET Antivirus definition update

Hello all,

Tim here with a heads-up on an emerging issue that we feel you should be aware of. ESET has recently released an antivirus definition that is experiencing some unintended consequences. The products effected are ESET Smart Security and ESET NOD32 Antivirus . The symptoms of the problem are:

1. Client or Server may stop responding due to LSASS.EXE being seen as a threat and quarantined.

2. EKRN.EXE crashes

3. Administrators receive threat notifications in the ESET Management Console. These notifications may have a blank threat name field.

This problem was detected in definition update 5417 and starts upon update to version 5418. ESET has released a new version to fix this issue, 5419. More information and instructions can be found at the ESET web site:
